WALESKA, Ga. -- Nikki Maples has been added to the Reinhardt College athletic department as an assistant women's basketball coach. He will assist head coach Amanda Clonts with directing Reinhardt's intercollegiate women's basketball program, which competes as part of the National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics (NAIA) and the Appalachian Athletic Conference (AAC).  

"I felt that this was a good place to get a start and that I would kind of get my hands in everything, which is what Coach Clonts told me," Maples said of Reinhardt. "The main reason why I played in college is because I really wanted to be a coach."

Maples was a four-time letterwinner as a point guard at NCAA Division III Agnes Scott College in Atlanta. As a senior in 2008-09 under head coach Tony Ciccone, she started all 24 games, averaging 10.1 points and 3.4 rebounds per game while leading the Scotties in assists (116, 4.8 a contest) and free throw percentage (82.4 percent, 84-of-102). After helping to lead Agnes Scott to a 13-11 overall record and 8-4 Great South Athletic Conference mark last season, Maples was presented with her team's Unsung Hero Award. She left as the school's career leader in free throw percentage (71 percent) and three-point field goal percentage (31 percent) and also holds single season records for assists and free throw percentage. A fine all-around student-athlete, Maples also played softball and volleyball for the Scotties. She received her bachelor's degree in psychology from Agnes Scott in May.

Originally from Roswell, Ga., Maples is a 2005 graduate of Roswell High School. She now resides in Alpharetta, Ga.
