WALESKA, Ga. -- Brooke Satterfield, a 5-foot-7 guard from Canton, Ga., has signed an athletic grant-in-aid to attend Reinhardt College in the fall and play basketball for the Lady Eagles in 2009-10 under head coach Amanda Clonts. Satterfield will come to Reinhardt from nearby Cherokee High School in Canton, where she played for head coach Matt Cates.
"Brooke is an extremely hard worker and will bring a competitive edge to our team," Clonts said. "I am looking forward to seeing her develop and the impact she will have on our program."
Satterfield, the daughter of Joe Satterfield and Kim Nichelson, was a four-time letterwinner and three-year starter at Cherokee. During her four seasons, the Lady Warriors posted a 95-23 overall record, making it to the state playoffs each year. In Satterfield's final two campaigns, CHS advanced to the second round of the playoffs. As a senior, she was named all-county by both the Cherokee Tribune and Cherokee Ledger-News newspapers, and Second Team All-Region 5AAAAA after averaging nine points, 6.5 rebounds, two steals and 1.8 assists per game. Satterfield was chosen as her team's top defensive player three times. A fine all-around student-athlete, she also earned four varsity letters in track as a sprinter and hurdler, receiving all-county honors on two occasions.
"I wanted to play somewhere where it would be fun and when I came here and played with all the girls, I thought they were really nice and I had a good time playing basketball," Satterfield said of Reinhardt. "It's also a really good school to get an education at."
Satterfield chose the Lady Eagles over Mars Hill College and King College. She also had an offer to run track at Georgia State University.
