WALESKA, Ga. -- Jeremy Poppe, a 6-foot, 200-pound defenseman from Alpharetta, Ga., has signed an athletic grant-in-aid to attend Reinhardt College in the fall and play for the Eagles' first-year men's lacrosse program in spring 2010 under head coach Binz Hansen. Poppe becomes the second player signed from South Forsyth High School in Cumming, Ga. -- joining Mason Currie -- where he played for head coach Josh Hawkins.
"Jeremy is an athlete that has the ability to become a very good lacrosse player," Hansen said. "His desire for the game is very encouraging."
Poppe, the son of Craig and Caroline Poppe, played four years of lacrosse at South Forsyth, earning two varsity letters. He was honored as having his team's best stick skills as a senior, when the War Eagles finished 10-8 overall and ranked No. 23 in the state, just missing the playoffs.
"I like the campus," Poppe said of Reinhardt. "I want to better myself and play a lot of lacrosse."
Poppe chose the Eagles over Valdosta State University.
