WALESKA, Ga. -- One member of the 2009 Reinhardt College baseball team was honored with a postseason award from the Southern States Athletic Conference on Tuesday night. In a vote of the conference's 10 head coaches, Reinhardt's Michael Willis was one of 17 players chosen to receive First Team All-SSAC recognition.
Willis, a junior outfielder from Villa Rica, Ga., was a second team all-conference selection last season. In 2009, he currently leads the SSAC and is ranked 45th nationally in the NAIA with 1.209 RBIs per game. Despite missing the last six regular season contests with an injury, Willis leads all Eagles regulars in batting average (.377), doubles (12), triples (two), home runs (10), RBIs (52), slugging percentage (.682) and sacrifice flies (six) entering the SSAC Tournament.
Reinhardt ended the regular season at 28-21 overall and in sixth place in the conference standings at 11-16. The Eagles are currently taking part in the SSAC Tournament, which is being held at the Golden Park Complex in Columbus, Ga.
