WALESKA, Ga. -- The Reinhardt College men's and women's tennis teams concluded their regular seasons on Saturday by hosting Southern States Athletic Conference matches with the Emmanuel College Lions and Lady Lions, respectively. Reinhardt's women claimed an 8-1 victory over Emmanuel while the men's squad dropped an 8-1 decision to the Lions.
The Lady Eagles got singles wins from Bekah Dalfonso at No. 1 (6-4, 6-2), Mandy Renta at No. 2 (6-0, 6-2), Melissa Dowd at No. 3 (6-1, 6-4), Kasey Nichols at No. 4 (6-2, 7-5), Kristie Spivey at No. 5 (6-0, 6-2) and Stephanie Fuller at No. 6 (1-6, 6-4, 10-6). In doubles play, Dalfonso and Renta combined for an 8-2 victory at No. 1 while the No. 3 team of Nichols and Fuller won by the same score.
Patrick Muza posted a 6-0, 6-1 triumph at No. 3 singles for the Eagles' lone win.
The Reinhardt women improve to 5-7 overall and 2-5 in the SSAC while the Lady Lions fall to 1-10 overall, including 0-5 in conference play. On the men's side, the Eagles dip to 1-8 overall and 0-5 in the SSAC while Emmanuel is 4-4 overall and 1-3 in conference matches. Both the Eagles and Lady Eagles are scheduled to play in their respective SSAC Tournaments beginning on Friday. Shorter College is hosting the events in Rome, Ga.
