MOUNT BERRY, Ga. -- The Reinhardt College women's basketball team had its 2008-09 season come to an end on Saturday afternoon with a 91-61 Southern States Athletic Conference loss at the Berry College Lady Vikings inside the Steven J. Cage Center.
Reinhardt never led and fell behind 10-0 in the first four minutes of the game. Berry went up by as many as 23 points before holding a 45-24 halftime advantage. The Lady Eagles got within 15 points early in the second half, but that would be as close as they would get as the Lady Vikings built an 89-53 lead with just over two minutes left.
The guests shot 32.4 percent (23-of-71) from the field while Berry finished at 45.5 percent (30-of-66). Reinhardt was called for 23 fouls, compared to 14 for the hosts. From the free throw line, the Lady Vikings hit 24-of-29 (82.8 percent) and the Lady Eagles made 8-of-12 (66.7 percent). Berry outrebounded Reinhardt 53-33.
Freshman Hannah Peacock scored a career-high 13 points for the Lady Eagles while Fabiola Toussaint had 12 off the bench. Freshman Chase Morgan pulled down six rebounds in a reserve role.
Reinhardt completes its 2008-09 campaign with a 9-21 overall record, including 5-15 in the SSAC. The Lady Vikings improve to 16-13 overall, finishing 14-6 in conference play, and move on to the SSAC Tournament.
