ATHENS, Tenn. -- On Wednesday evening away from home, the Reinhardt College men's basketball team led by 12 points at halftime before suffering a 61-56 non-conference loss to the Tennessee Wesleyan College Bulldogs inside James L. Robb Gymnasium.
Reinhardt led by as many as 14 points in the opening half and had a 37-25 advantage at the intermission. The Eagles shot 36.7 percent (22-of-60) from the field for the game while Tennessee Wesleyan finished at 34.8 percent (16-of-46). The big difference in shooting came at the free throw line, where Reinhardt made just 7-of-18 (38.9 percent) while the Bulldogs hit 27-of-33 (81.8 percent). The Eagles won the battle of the boards 42-32.
Shawn Davis and Heath Hooper tossed in nine points apiece off the bench for Reinhardt while Kordel Alexander pulled down seven rebounds.
The Eagles fall to 1-2 overall on the year while TWC moves to 2-2. Reinhardt will have an exhibition game at the NCAA Division I Georgia Southern University Eagles in Statesboro, Ga., this Friday at 7:30 p.m. Reinhardt will return to regular-season play with a non-conference contest on Saturday at the Covenant College Scots. Tipoff is slated for 7:30 p.m. in Lookout Mountain, Ga.
