SAVANNAH, Ga. -- In a non-conference road game on Wednesday night, the Reinhardt College men's basketball team struggled shooting the ball in a 63-51 loss to the Savannah College of Art and Design (SCAD) Bees at the Ron Love Athletic Center on the campus of Savannah High School.
Reinhardt led 10-8 early in the contest before SCAD went on a 19-2 run to take a 27-12 advantage with just under a minute left before halftime. During the Bees' spurt, the Eagles missed 15 straight field goal attempts. Leading 29-14 at the intermission, SCAD increased its lead to 17 points on two occasions before the Eagles got to within nine twice, the last time with 4:28 remaining in the game.
Reinhardt shot 26.9 percent (18-of-67) from the field for the game, including just 16.7 percent (5-of-30) in the first half. The Eagles finished 3-of-18 (16.7 percent) from beyond the three-point line, compared to 4-of-8 (50.0 percent) for the Bees. At the free throw line, Reinhardt was outscored 25-12.
Shawn Davis came off the bench to lead Reinhardt with 10 points and six rebounds while Kordel Alexander had nine points, six boards, three assists and two steals in a reserve role. Mario Mason collected eight points off the bench while Eugene Parker ended with seven rebounds, along with game highs of five steals and four assists.
The Eagles will play another non-conference game at the Tennessee Wesleyan College Bulldogs next Wednesday, Nov. 12. The contest is set for 7:30 p.m. in Athens, Tenn.
