MARIETTA, Ga. -- On Saturday morning, the Reinhardt College men's and women's cross country teams took part in the Southern Collegiate Challenge, hosted by Chattahoochee Technical College at Wildwood Park.

In the college/university division, the Reinhardt men's squad finished in fourth place among five teams with a score of 98. On the women's side, Reinhardt had just four runners compete when five are needed to post a team score.

NCAA Division II University of West Georgia claimed both the men's and women's championships with scores of 18 and 21, respectively. Nine teams made up the women's field.

Danny Sims paced the Eagles in the men's 8K race with a time of 31:48 for 18th place while Dave Lawson finished at 32:13 for 19th. A total of 39 runners took part in the college/university division.

In the women's 5K race, which featured 69 college/university division runners, Kristie Spivey continued her fine season by leading the Lady Eagles with a time of 22:20 for 10th place.

Both Reinhardt teams are slated to participate at the 3rd annual JSU Foothills Invitational, hosted by Division I Jacksonville State University, next Saturday, Oct. 18. The meet will be held at the Oxford (Ala.) Lake and Recreation Center.
