MACON, Ga. -- On Saturday morning, the Reinhardt College men's and women's cross country teams participated in the Mercer RunFit Sports Invitational, hosted by NCAA Division I Mercer University at the Georgia Children's Home courses.
All eight runners who competed for Reinhardt, four women and four men, improved their times from the previous meet.
The women's field included six Division I members, including meet champion Jacksonville University with a score of 52. The Lady Eagles had four runners participate, but five are needed to qualify for a team score either. In the women's race, Kristie Spivey was Reinhardt's top finisher, covering the 5K course in a time of 21:33.25 for 72nd place among 123 runners.
Five Division I squads were part of the men's competition, with East Tennessee State University easily winning the meet with a score of 24. Four runners participated for the Eagles, so they did not qualify for a team score. Dave Lawson paced Reinhardt in the 8K race with a time of 30:56.12 for 113th place among 136 competitors.
Both Reinhardt teams are slated to take part in the Tennessee Tech Invitational, hosted by Division I member Tennessee Tech University in Cookeville, Tenn., on Friday.
