CLARKESVILLE, Ga. -- On Tuesday, members of the Reinhardt College men's and women's golf teams participated in their second event of the fall, the 6th Annual The Orchard Fall Invitational hosted by Piedmont College at The Orchard Golf & Country Club.
In men's play, Reinhardt shot 303 for second place, 15 strokes behind tournament champion Piedmont in the five-team, 38-player field. Joe Liptak led the Eagles and was named to the all-tournament team after firing a 74 (38-36) for fifth place on the men's par-72, 6713-yard layout. Chris Cartwright (38-38) and Rudi Lee (34-42) followed at 76 to tie for 11th while Jason Mobley shot 77 (36-41) to tie for 13th. Freshman Tyler Hays (37-41) and Jordan Bentle (40-43) each finished with 78, tying for 16th. Also competing for Reinhardt were Brandon Hendrix, Jeff Weber and freshman Justin Osborne.
Three Lady Eagles took part in the event but four players are needed to post a team score. Tennessee Wesleyan College claimed the tournament title over four other teams with 331. Leading Reinhardt was Megan Lane, who fired an 86 for ninth place among 33 players on the women's par-72, 5807-yard course. Jesse Larson and Katie Cash also participated for the Lady Eagles.
The Reinhardt men's squad will play in the Jack Shadwick Invitational, hosted by Southern Wesleyan University at Cross Creek Plantation Golf Club in Seneca, S.C., on Sept. 29-30. The women will next compete in the Chick-fil-A Invitational, hosted by Berry College at Coosa Country Club in Rome, Ga., on Oct. 13-14.
