WALESKA, Ga. – Cali Lovett, a utility player from Loganville, Ga., has signed an athletic grant-in-aid to attend Reinhardt College next fall and play softball for the Lady Eagles under head coach Glen Crawford. Lovett will come to Reinhardt from Darton College, a two-year institution in Albany, Ga., where she played for head coach David Dews.
"Cali is a great fit for us," Crawford said. "She can play middle infield as well as outfield, and I look for her to fill the holes left in both areas. She is a good hitter with speed, and I am real pleased to have her as a part of our program."
Lovett, the daughter of Ellis and Michelle Lovett, played one season at Darton, leading the Lady Cavaliers to a 29-15 overall record and share of the 2008 NJCAA Region XVII regular season championship with a 16-4 mark. Used primarily as an outfielder, she hit .356 with nine doubles, one home run, 21 runs scored and 18 RBIs in 41 games last season. Before Darton, Lovett graduated from Loganville High School, where she mainly played second base.
"I came here on a visit and I really liked it," Lovett said. "I love the coach, I like the people and I just like the environment. I'm just really excited."
