WALESKA, Ga. – Two members of the 2008 Reinhardt College baseball team were recently recognized with more postseason honors. Representing Reinhardt on the NAIA All-Region XIII Baseball Team were junior outfielder Jarrod Willis and senior outfielder/first baseman Daniel Jape. Both Willis and Jape had previously earned First Team All-Southern States Athletic Conference accolades.
Willis, from Douglasville, Ga., led the Eagles in batting (.408 average), hits (80), doubles (20), runs scored (74), total bases (137), slugging percentage (.699), on-base percentage (.526) and stolen bases (14) this past season. He currently ranks among the national leaders in runs scored per game (1.321) and was earlier chosen to the SSAC Gold Glove Team.
Jape, out of Woodstock, Ga., hit .346 with team highs of 18 home runs and 83 RBIs. Nationally, he ranks among the best in RBIs per game (1.596) and home runs per game (0.346).
Reinhardt just completed its fourth season of intercollegiate baseball with a 29-28 overall record, including 10-17 in the conference for seventh place. In the last three years, the Eagles had just one all-region performer.
