FORT GAINES, Ga. – The Reinhardt College men's golf team concluded its 2008 spring season on Tuesday at the NAIA Region XIII Championship, which also served as the championship event for the Southern States Athletic Conference. Reinhardt finished in ninth place among 11 teams in the region and sixth of the six conference squads. The 54-hole event featured 18 holes each on Sunday, Monday and Tuesday and was hosted by the University of Mobile (Ala.) at Meadow Links Golf Course at George T. Bagby State Park.  

The Eagles shot 318 on Sunday, 315 on Monday and 316 on Tuesday for a final total of 949 on the par 72, 7007-yard course. The SSAC claimed the top three spots in the tournament as Lee University won the event at 290-287-291-868, followed by Berry College at 293-287-289-869 and Shorter College at 295-298-292-885. Berry and Shorter are ranked sixth and 17th in the nation, respectively, in the NAIA. Host Mobile, ranked No. 21 nationally, ended fifth at 300-302-304-906.

Individually for Reinhardt, Drew Hayes (Chatsworth, Ga.) led the way by shooting 73-77-78-228 (12 over par), finishing in a tie for 22nd place in the 61-player field. Jordan Bentle (Woodstock, Ga.), freshman Rudi Lee (Ringgold, Ga.) and Jason Mobley (Dalton, Ga.) all tied for 40th place with 241 totals. Bentle had rounds of 83, 80 and 78; Lee posted scores of 82, 78 and 81; and Mobley shot 80, 80 and 81. Joe Liptak (Lemont, Ill.) also competed for the Eagles, ending in a tie for 45th place with 84-80-79-243.
