WALESKA, Ga. – In its final home games of the 2008 season, the Reinhardt College softball team did not allow a run in sweeping a Southern States Athletic Conference doubleheader with the Brewton-Parker College Lady Barons. On Saturday's Senior Day at the Jim & Syble Boring Sports Complex, Reinhardt won by the scores of 1-0 in the first game and 4-0 in the second. In between the two contests, the seven Lady Eagles senior players were honored, including Ashley Bramhall (Houston, Texas), Katie Cash (Locust Grove, Ga.), Whitney Fagge (Gainesville, Ga.), Cassie Gee (Easley, S.C.), Dana Jackson (Griffin, Ga.), Angela Lack (Woodstock, Ga.) and Shastin Rader (Palmetto, Fla.).
In the opener, Reinhardt scored the game's only run in dramatic fashion when Lack singled home Jackson with two outs in the bottom of the seventh inning. The victory gave the Lady Eagles their third straight 30-plus win season since the program began four years ago.
Each team collected five hits. Reinhardt committed two errors and Brewton-Parker one.
Lack finished 2-for-3 with the contest's lone RBI for the Lady Eagles while Morgan Basone (Woodstock, Ga.) was 1-for-2 with a sacrifice bunt. Nicole Rice (Douglasville, Ga.) and Sarah Brown (Woodstock, Ga.) each went 1-for-3 while Jackson scored the only run after entering the game as a pinch runner.
Tiffany Reeves (Acworth, Ga.) pitched a complete-game shutout for the winners, striking out four batters and walking one over seven innings.
In the second contest, Reinhardt scored one run in the first inning, two times in the second and once more in the fourth.
The Lady Eagles ended with eight hits while limiting their guests to just four singles. Reinhardt was guilty of three errors and left 10 runners on base while the Lady Barons made two errors and stranded 12 baserunners.
At the plate for the Lady Eagles, Cassie Davis (Metter, Ga.) went 2-for-3 with a triple, double, walk and an RBI while Cash was 2-for-4 with a two-base hit, two RBIs and run scored. Bramhall also had two hits in four at-bats with an RBI while Fagge finished 1-for-1. Brown added a hit while Lack, Rader and Rice each walked and scored a run.
Bramhall tossed all seven innings for Reinhardt, ending with six strikeouts and three bases on balls to earn the win.
The Lady Eagles improve to 31-17 overall and 13-13 in the SSAC while BPC drops to 31-22 overall, including 11-15 in conference play. Reinhardt will conclude its regular season with an SSAC doubleheader at the Emmanuel College Lady Lions in Franklin Springs, Ga., on Tuesday. Game one is slated for 4 p.m.
