WALESKA, Ga. – The Reinhardt College softball squad lost both games of a Southern States Athletic Conference doubleheader with the conference-leading Faulkner University Eagles on Friday afternoon at the Jim & Syble Boring Sports Complex. Reinhardt fell 6-3 in the first game and 4-2 in the second to the Eagles, who are ranked No. 19 nationally in the NAIA.  

In the opener, Faulkner scored three times in the second inning before the Lady Eagles got on the scoreboard with a run in the third. The guests tallied three more runs in the top of the fourth inning before Reinhardt concluded the scoring with a run in the bottom half.

The Lady Eagles outhit Faulkner 7-6 and each team committed two errors. Reinhardt stranded seven baserunners to just three for the visitors.

Casey Hollifield (Dallas, Ga.) went 2-for-3 with a run scored for the hosts while Nicole Rice (Douglasville, Ga.) finished 2-for-4 with a triple, two RBIs and run scored. Ashley Bramhall (Houston, Texas) was 2-for-4 with an RBI while Morgan Basone (Woodstock, Ga.) ended 1-for-2 with a walk. Dana Jackson (Griffin, Ga.) added a run scored.

In the circle for the Lady Eagles, Tiffany Reeves (Acworth, Ga.) pitched the first 3⅔ innings and absorbed the loss. Alex Riccardi (Americus, Ga.) threw the final 3⅓ innings, allowing two hits and no runs while recording two strikeouts and no walks.

Reinhardt got out to a 2-0 lead in the second contest with single runs in each of the first and third innings before Faulkner came back with a pair of runs in each of the fifth and sixth.

Faulkner wound up with seven hits, compared to five for the Lady Eagles. Reinhardt made one error and the guests none.

Offensively for the Lady Eagles, Rice went 2-for-4 with a double and run scored while Cassie Gee (Easley, S.C.) was 1-for-1 as a pinch hitter. Cassie Davis (Metter, Ga.) finished 1-for-3 with two RBIs while Bramhall also had a hit in three at-bats. Katie Cash (Locust Grove, Ga.) chipped in with a walk and run scored.

Bramhall was the starting and losing pitcher for Reinhardt, tossing 5⅔ innings with five strikeouts and two bases on balls. Riccardi pitched the last 1⅓ innings, giving up no hits or runs.

The Lady Eagles are 29-19 overall and 11-13 in the SSAC while Faulkner improves to 30-17 overall, including 19-3 in conference play. Reinhardt will host an SSAC doubleheader with the Brewton-Parker College Lady Barons on Friday at noon. In between the two games, the Lady Eagles' seven senior players will be recognized before taking part in their final contest at the Boring Sports Complex.
