CAMP LEJEUNE, N.C. – Over the weekend, the Reinhardt College men's golf team finished in third place among 13 teams at the Marine Federal Credit Union Intercollegiate Championship at Paradise Point Golf Course. The 54-hole event featured 18 holes each on Friday, Saturday and Sunday.
Playing Paradise Point's Gold Course on Friday, Reinhardt shot 318 on the par 72, 7040-yard layout. The Eagles then took on the Scarlet Course (par 70, 6101 yards) on Saturday and Sunday, firing rounds of 291 and 297, respectively. Saturday's score was the best in the field as Reinhardt finished with a 54-hole total of 906, 10 strokes back of tournament winner Averett University.
Individually for the Eagles, Jordan Bentle (Woodstock, Ga.) led the way by ending in a tie for seventh place among the 65 golfers with 75-73-76-224, 12 over par. Drew Hayes (Chatsworth, Ga.) tied for 11th place at 84-70-72-226, followed by Jason Mobley (Dalton, Ga.) at 77-79-75-231, good for a tie for 33rd. Freshman Rudi Lee (Ringgold, Ga.) came in with 89-69-74-232, tying for 36th place, while Joe Liptak (Lemont, Ill.) finished at 82-82-76-240 for 54th.
Reinhardt's next event is the NAIA Region XIII/Southern States Athletic Conference Championships. The tournament will take place on Meadow Links Golf Course at George T. Bagby State Park in Fort Gaines, Ga., from April 20-22.
