WALESKA, Ga. – Playing one of the best teams in the country on Friday afternoon, the Reinhardt College baseball team fell to the Lee University Flames 17-7 in a Southern States Athletic Conference contest at the Jim & Syble Boring Sports Complex. Lee, ranked No. 2 nationally in the latest NAIA poll, extended its current winning streak to 29 games.

Reinhardt got out to a quick 3-0 lead after one inning but the Flames came back with four runs in the second and one in the third, establishing a 5-3 advantage. The Eagles tied the contest with two runs in the bottom of the third inning, and it remained knotted up at 7-7 after each club scored a pair of runs in the fifth. A 10-run sixth inning by the guests, however, lifted them to the victory.

Lee outhit Reinhardt 13-8 and played error-free defensively. The Eagles were guilty of four errors.

Chris Nuckolls (Canton, Ga.) came off the bench to go 2-for-2 with two RBIs for Reinhardt while Jarrod Willis (Douglasville, Ga.) went 2-for-3 with a home run, walk, three runs scored and two RBIs. Freshman Harry Nutter (Jonesboro, Ga.) was 2-for-3 with a walk and three runs scored while Daniel Jape (Woodstock, Ga.) contributed a three-run homer. Michael Willis (Douglasville, Ga.) added a hit in three at-bats.

Tim Duncan (Acworth, Ga.) was the Eagles’ starting pitcher and went four innings. Freshman Ryan McDowell (Acworth, Ga.) was one of five pitchers used out of the bullpen and absorbed the loss, allowing one hit, one walk and one run over ⅔ inning.

Reinhardt drops to 18-14 overall and 5-8 in the SSAC while the Flames move to 32-1 overall and 13-0 in conference play. The Eagles will host an SSAC doubleheader with Lee on Saturday at noon.
