RUTLEDGE, Ga. – The Reinhardt College men’s golf squad participated in the 2nd Annual Piedmont College Spring Invitational on Monday and Tuesday at The Creek at Hard Labor State Park Golf Course. Reinhardt finished in sixth place among the six teams on the par 72, 6481-yard course.
On Monday, the Eagles shot 312 with Jason Mobley (Dalton, Ga.) leading the way by carding a 76. Freshman Rudi Lee (Ringgold, Ga.) fired a 77 and Joe Liptak (Lemont, Ill.) a 79.
Liptak came back on Tuesday by shooting a superb 74, the fourth-best round of the day in the 42-player field, as the Eagles totaled 314. Drew Hayes (Chatsworth, Ga.) contributed a 78 on the final day.
Reinhardt finished with a 36-hole total of 626 for the tournament, which was won by Birmingham-Southern College at 587, 11 over par. Liptak ended in 17th place with 79-74—153, 9 over par, while Mobley was 21st at 76-80—156. Hayes shot 80-78—158 to tie for 26th place, followed by Lee at 77-82—159, Jordan Bentle (Woodstock, Ga.) at 81-82—163 and Brandon Hendrix (Canton, Ga.) at 81-88—169.
The Eagles’ next event is the Marine Federal Credit Union Intercollegiate Championship from March 28-30 at Paradise Point Golf Course in Camp Lejeune, N.C.
