Brooke Haley scored a game-high five goals as the No. 6 Reinhardt University women's lacrosse team defeated No. 9 Midland, 14-8, in NWLL action at the Darlington School in Rome, Ga., Tuesday evening.

Midland led after 5:30 of action, 2-1, but the Lady Eagles would score the next four goals to take the lead for good. Gina Ives scored twice within a span of 3:07, with Kaleigh Clarke scoring the first of her three goals inbetween to stake RU (8-2) to a 4-2 lead. Then with just under nine minutes left in the opening half, Haley scored on a free position shot to put the Lady Eagles up by three. Midland would answer with a goal, but Clarke's second goal of the half was the final goal of the first 30 minutes as RU went into the break ahead, 6-3.

In the second half, Midland pulled within a goal, 7-6, but the Lady Eagles would go on a 5-1 run to take the lead, 12-7. Haley had a goal to start and close the run, with Gongas, Ives, and Clarke adding a goal each. Midland's final goal would come at the 11:48 mark as the Lady Eagles dominated time of possession over the final stages of the game. Haley scored her fifth and final goal of the game with 5:18 left, and Sarah Hewett ended the game the way she started it as her second goal of the game with 1:52 left capped the scoring.

Gongas tied for game-high honors with two assists, with Hewett and Clarke each credited with one assist. The Lady Eagles had an advantage in ground balls, 25-20, and Taylor Reid had a game-best eight saves in the net for RU.

The Lady Eagles will be back in action this Friday as they play host to Columbia in NWLL South Region action. The opening draw is set for 5 p.m. A win would give the Lady Eagles a program-record for wins in a season.
