WALESKA, Ga. – Two members of the 2007-08 Reinhardt College men’s basketball team were honored with postseason awards from the Southern States Athletic Conference on Tuesday night. In a vote of the 10 SSAC head coaches, Reinhardt’s Victor Stowes was selected to the 15-member all-conference squad while Aaron Darling earned a spot on the five-player SSAC All-Freshman Team.
Stowes, a 6-foot-2 senior guard from Alexander City, Ala., and the brother of football star Terrell Owens, led the Eagles in scoring (16.3 points per game), rebounds (6.1 a contest) and assists (3.2 per outing) this past season. He scored in double figures in 15-of-18 games with a career-high 30 points in Reinhardt’s 73-70 conference victory over Emmanuel College on Jan. 12.
Darling, a 6-foot-3 guard from Shady Shores, Texas, averaged 8.7 points and 2.6 boards per game while leading the Eagles with 53 three-point field goals made. He played in all 30 contests with 21 starts, scoring in double digits 13 times in his first collegiate season. In a 79-73 win at SSAC foe Brewton-Parker College on Jan. 3, Darling tossed in a career-best 26 points.
Reinhardt finished its 2007-08 campaign with a four-game winning streak to end 8-22 overall and 6-12 in conference play under first-year head coach Jeffrey Pourchier.
