FRANKLIN SPRINGS, Ga. – The Reinhardt College men’s basketball team posted its second straight win on Saturday with a 74-70 victory at the Emmanuel College Lions in a Southern States Athletic Conference matchup. It marked the second time this season that Reinhardt has defeated Emmanuel.
At halftime, the two teams were tied (29-29) before the Eagles outscored the hosts 45-41 in the final 20 minutes. Reinhardt shot a sizzling 52.9 percent (27-of-51) from the field in the contest, compared to 45.9 percent (28-of-61) for the Lions.
Victor Stowes (Lithonia, Ga.) led the winners with game highs of 26 points and four assists, plus grabbed four rebounds, while Donovan McMullen (Riverdale, Ga.) came up with 14 points – shooting 7-of-8 from the field – and four boards.
“Donovan and Vic played unbelievable,” Eagles Head Coach Jeffrey Pourchier said. “They played really well offensively for us.”
Reinhardt improves to 6-22 overall and 4-12 in the SSAC (ninth place) while Emmanuel falls to 13-15 overall, including 5-11 in conference play (tied for sixth). The Eagles will host SSAC opponent Shorter College on Thursday at 8 p.m. The contest will follow the women’s game between Shorter and Reinhardt, which begins at 6 p.m.
