WINDER, Ga. – Mary Beck, a 5-foot-9 outside hitter from Bethlehem, Ga., has signed an athletic grant-in-aid to attend Reinhardt College next fall and play volleyball for the Lady Eagles under Head Coach Angela Monds, the 2007 Southern States Athletic Conference Coach of the Year in her first season at the helm. Beck will come to Reinhardt from Apalachee High School in Winder, Ga., where she played under Head Coach Beth Rogers.
Beck, the daughter of Terry and Emily Beck, played the last two seasons at Apalachee, serving as a team captain both years, after transferring from Hope Christian Academy. Last season, she had 506 kills and 102 aces in 38 matches in leading her team to the state tournament. Beck was named the 2007 Region 8-AAA Player of the Year and Northeast Georgia Player of the Year by the Athens Banner-Herald. As a junior, she was an all-region selection and her team’s Most Valuable Player. In 2005, Beck was her squad’s MVP at Hope Christian, where she had played varsity volleyball since the seventh grade. Beck also earned varsity letters in softball and basketball at HCA.
Beck chose Reinhardt over NCAA Division II Augusta State University.
