KENNESAW, Ga. – Sami Lane, an outside hitter from Kennesaw, Ga., has signed an athletic grant-in-aid to attend Reinhardt College next fall and play volleyball for the Lady Eagles under Head Coach Angela Monds, the 2007 Southern States Athletic Conference Coach of the Year in her first season at the helm. Lane will come to Reinhardt from Kennesaw Mountain High School, where she played under Head Coach Tonya Kern-Honea.
Lane, the daughter of Leigh Ann and Scott Oder and Skip Lane, was a four-year varsity player at Kennesaw Mountain. Last year, she earned her team’s Most Valuable Player award and First Team All-Cobb County honors while leading the Lady Mustangs to a 50-7 overall record, the county championship and a runner-up state finish in Class AAAAA. After her final season, she was one of 24 seniors from across the state to take part in the Georgia Athletic Coaches Association’s all-star game. Lane also received all-county recognition as both a sophomore and junior, and was selected as her squad’s Best Offensive Player three times. Additionally, she was a member of a 16-and-under team that captured a national title at the 2007 USA Volleyball Junior Olympic Championships.
