DAYTON, Tenn. -- Playing its fourth straight Appalachian Athletic Conference road game, the Reinhardt University women's basketball team lost to the Bryan College Lady Lions 66-54 on Wednesday inside Summers Gymnasium.
Bryan scored the contest's first 10 points before Reinhardt sliced the deficit to three (15-12) with six minutes left in the first half. The Lady Lions increased their lead to 30-14 at halftime and took their biggest advantage, 35-18, with 15:38 remaining. At the 5:13 mark, the Lady Eagles got to within five points (44-39) before the hosts went on a 22-12 run.
Reinhardt shot 30.0 percent (21-of-70) from the field and 47.4 percent (9-of-19) at the free throw line while Bryan finished at 40.4 percent (19-of-47) and 70.3 percent (26-of-37), respectively. The Lady Eagles were outrebounded 47-37.
For Reinhardt, Erin Courington posted a game-high 19 points and five rebounds while Jordan Marsh tallied 11 points, eight boards, and a season- and game-best three steals. Kareen Abling came off the bench to also score 11 points.
The Lady Eagles slip to 10-10 overall and 5-3 in AAC play while the Lady Lions are 12-7 overall, including 3-5 in the conference. Reinhardt is at home this Saturday for an AAC contest with the Tennessee Wesleyan College Lady Bulldogs, who received 11 points in this week's NAIA Division II poll to rank 32nd nationally. Tipoff at the James & Sis Brown Athletic Center is set for 2 p.m. with the Tennessee Wesleyan-Reinhardt men's game following at approximately 4 p.m.
