MONTREAT, N.C. -- On Saturday, the Reinhardt University women's basketball team knocked off the host Montreat College Lady Cavaliers, who are ranked 12th nationally in NAIA Division II, by the score of 62-58 in an Appalachian Athletic Conference game at McAlister Gymnasium. It marked Reinhardt's second AAC road win over a Top 20 team in the last 12 days after the Lady Eagles also beat the No. 19-rated Union College (Ky.) Lady Bulldogs on Jan. 3.

Reinhardt led early before Montreat established a 24-12 lead with 7:46 to go in the first half. The Lady Eagles trimmed the deficit to 27-24 by halftime and regained the advantage, 29-27, with 17:45 remaining. Four lead changes and three ties followed, but the Lady Cavaliers never trailed from the 12:09 mark until the final minute. With the score tied at 58-58, Jordan Marsh's field goal with 30.6 seconds left put Reinhardt on top before Erin Courington added a pair of clutch free throws down the stretch.

The Lady Eagles ended at 40.8 percent (20-of-49) from the floor, including 43.8 percent (7-of-16) from behind the three-point arc, compared to 35.4 percent (17-of-48) and 25.0 percent (3-of-12), respectively, for Montreat. From the foul line, Reinhardt made 15-of-18 (83.3 percent) and the hosts 21-of-27 (77.8 percent). The Lady Cavaliers had a slim 28-27 edge in rebounds.

Courington led the way for the winners with a game-high 19 points, career- and game-best 16 rebounds, and five assists while Marsh finished with 11 points on 5-of-6 shooting from the field. Dallas Smith collected 10 points while Jessie Clark added nine off the bench.

The Lady Eagles are 10-9 overall and 5-2 in the AAC while Montreat falls to 12-4 overall and is also 5-2 in conference play. Reinhardt travels to play the Bryan College Lady Lions in an AAC contest on Wednesday at 5:30 p.m. in Dayton, Tenn. The Reinhardt-Bryan men's game follows at approximately 7:30 p.m.
