WALESKA, Ga. -- On Monday afternoon, the Reinhardt University women's soccer team concluded a four-game homestand to start the 2010 season and celebrated Labor Day with a convincing 8-0 non-conference victory over the visiting Tennessee Temple University Lady Crusaders (from Chattanooga) at Ken White Soccer Field.
Reinhardt opened the scoring just 13:04 into the match and tacked on four more goals for a commanding 5-0 halftime lead. The Lady Eagles continued to roll in the second half with three more goals en route to the lopsided win.
Heather Hundelt knocked in a pair of goals, one in each half, for the winners while Katelyn Prester finished with a goal and two assists. Katherine Amatulli collected a goal and an assist while Laura Waite, Diane Prescott and Kelsey Carl contributed one goal apiece. Chelsa Hise and Heather Tatham each added an assist and Reinhardt was credited with one own goal.
The Lady Eagles took 65 shots, including 31 on goal, while limiting Tennessee Temple to just one shot, which was on goal. Reinhardt was awarded nine corner kicks and the Lady Crusaders none.
In goal for the Lady Eagles, Chelsea Bettis and Chesley Torrance combined on the shutout. Bettis started and played the first 45 minutes with one save while Torrance was on the field for the entire second half.
Reinhardt improves to 2-0-2 overall while TTU is 2-4. The Lady Eagles play their first road match of the year on Wednesday night when taking on the Brenau University Golden Tigers. The non-conference contest is set for 7 p.m. in Gainesville, Ga.
