WALESKA, Ga. -- In non-conference action on Thursday at Ken White Soccer Field, the Reinhardt University women's soccer squad played to a 1-1 double-overtime tie with the visiting Savannah (Ga.) College of Art and Design Bees.
Following a scoreless opening half, Reinhardt got on the scoreboard first on a goal by Chelsa Hise, with an assist from Heather Rogers, at the 53:34 mark. SCAD evened the score with a goal at 66:24 and the two teams headed to overtime tied at 1-1. Neither squad was able to score over two 10-minute overtime periods, resulting in a tie.
The Lady Eagles were outshot by a 22-16 margin, including 11-5 on goal. The Bees had a 5-4 edge in corner kicks and committed eight fouls to the host's three.
Reinhardt's Chelsea Bettis was in goal for all 110 minutes. She made 10 saves, including four in the overtime sessions.
The Lady Eagles are 1-0-2 overall while SCAD is 2-1-1. Reinhardt concludes its four-game homestand to start the season by hosting the Tennessee Temple University Lady Crusaders on Monday at 1 p.m. Following the women's match, the Tennessee Temple and Reinhardt men square off at approximately 3 p.m. as part of a non-conference doubleheader.
