WALESKA, Ga. -- In its 2010 season opener on Saturday afternoon, the Reinhardt University women's soccer team, under veteran head coach Andy Kaplan, played to a 1-1 tie with the visiting Trevecca Nazarene University Trojans (from Nashville, Tenn.) in a non-conference game at Ken White Soccer Field.
Trevecca Nazarene struck quickly with a goal at the 6:21 mark of the first half and led 1-0 at halftime. At 66:46, Reinhardt's Regent Fuller, who had come off the bench, scored a goal off an assist from freshman Krista Barikos, tying the match. The score remained 1-1 at the end of regulation, resulting in a tie.
The Lady Eagles outshot their guests 18-6, including 8-2 on goal, but the Trevecca goalkeepers made seven saves. Reinhardt also had a 5-4 advantage in corner kicks and committed five fouls to the Trojans' seven.
Chesley Torrance played all 90 minutes in goal for the Lady Eagles, tallying one save.
Reinhardt and TNU are both 0-0-1 on the young season. The Lady Eagles continue their four-game homestand to start the year by hosting a non-conference match with the Brewton-Parker College Lady Barons on Tuesday at 4 p.m.
